Golf is a sport, no matter how seemingly idle, that needs lots of practice, especially with stances, muscle control and concentration. In golf, practice means staying out for hours and making sure that you get practice the right swing the right way.
The key to improving your golfing techniques is the quality of the game you play, not in the number of balls, or quantity, you hit. Here are some tips you should keep in mind if you truly want your golf techniques to improve:
1. Assess your trajectory. If you just keep hitting ball after ball without really looking how high your hits went and how long it took for them to land on the ground, then you're not really practicing -- you're just exercising.
2. Assess your move. Don't just hit the balls as you wish. Pace yourself, absorb the feedback your move just made on you and your body before you make another move. Be patient.
3. Don't scrimp on your follow-through. Some golfers forego the follow through, thinking that it doesn't really matter. Absorbing the feel of a good follow-through on your body will give you an idea how you should be standing and feeling when you take a serious shot.
4. Align your body before you make a shot. This is self explanatory. If you truly want to improve your game, you have to treat your practice sessions as if they were actual games already. Golfing doesn't just mean good hitting. It also means good posture and stance.
In sum, golfing is not as easy as it looks. Again, while it does not require too much physical effort, it calls for a lot of discipline and self-control. If you just keep hitting the ball, then you will forever be just hitting it and not really winning it. If your goal is really to do better at the sport, keep the above tips in mind all the time. |
