Diamond Earrings: The Most Elegant Accessory

Author: Casey Buell

When it comes to elegance and class nothing beats diamond earrings. With their brilliant sparkle and alluring simplicity diamond earrings seem almost magical. One of the most beautiful pieces of jewelry you can own, diamond earrings are also very versatile. You can wear them anywhere, at anytime. Wear your diamond earrings with evening dress to a fancy dinner party, of with blue jeans and a knitted sweater to an afternoon picnic. It is this versatility that makes diamond earrings so special. And with so many styles to choose from they are easy to customize to your own personal style.

The perfect diamond earrings for you:

The most important thing to remember when choosing your diamond earrings is that quality shows. Poor quality diamond earrings, far from making you look good, in fact take away from your natural beauty. Higher quality is often worth the extra money.

When looking for quality diamond earrings you first must look at the diamond studs being used. Remember the four Cs of diamond quality: cut, clarity, color, and carat.

The cut of a diamond is all-important. More than any other attribute, it is the cut that makes a diamond brilliant and beautiful. To tell if a diamond stud has a good cut simply look into it and see if it reflects the light evenly and brilliantly. If you see dark spots then the diamond has been cut too deep. If the diamond appears opaque then it has been cut too shallow. Diamond earrings with poorly cut diamonds will appear bull and lifeless. But if the diamonds are cut well your diamond earrings will shine brilliantly.

No less important is the clarity of the diamonds in your diamond earrings. The clarity of a diamond is judged by how many inclusions, or flaws, can be seen in it. Obvious flaws in a diamond stud will mar its beauty and change the way it reflects light. For this reason you want to stay away from diamonds graded I3 or lower. All diamonds graded SI2 or higher are eye clean, meaning no flaws can be seen by the naked eye. Diamond studs graded I1 or I2 have slightly visible inclusions, but represent a great value, especially in diamond earrings, as the inclusions will become less visible when put into the setting.

Also very important is the color of the diamonds. The finest and most valuable diamonds are absolutely colorless. The GIA ranks diamond color on a scale from D to Z, with D being absolutely colorless and Z being distinctly yellow. D through F diamonds are the most expensive, but most experts agree that diamonds in the H-I range appear colorless when mounted, making them a much better value for diamond earrings.

One last thing to look at when buying diamond earrings is carat. Carat size has nothing whatsoever to do with quality, and everything to do with quantity. Of course larger diamond studs will have a more dramatic effect, but bigger isnt always better. You should only take carat size into account where it concerns the price range you are comfortable with.

Where is the best place to purchase diamond earrings:

To get an idea of the different styles and prices that are available in diamond earrings it is more convenient to view them online before shopping around at local jewelry stores.

Retail jewelers will carry a small to medium selection of diamond earrings, but you will find a greater selection online. Just type "diamond earrings" into an Internet search engine like Google or Yahoo and you will find several reliable websites that specialize in diamond earrings.

The cost of diamond earrings is dependant upon many variables, such as the size and quality of the diamond studs. Diamond earrings with a total carat weight of .50ct should cost between $500 and $1000, depending on the quality. Diamond earrings with a total carat weight of 2.00ct should cost between $5000 and $15000, depending on the quality.

Shine with diamond earrings:

No other accessory is as important as your earrings. They can make you dull, or they can make you shine. Show the world who you are. Shine with diamond earrings.
