Piski To The Future

Author: Andrew Corner

Tracking employees' working hours is an important aspect of every business. It doesn't matter if it is a small scale home-based business or a large multinational corporation. Employee tracking serves the purpose of ensuring that employers get optimum service from their employees within working hours. Employees also benefit from this system. Tracking and working hours records can support claims for extra pay or requests for increase. For these reasons, employee time clocks, time clock software, time clocks, employee time cards, and time tracking devices have been used to monitor and record employees' work hours. There is, however, a newly developed time tracking program that is currently in use by the company that developed it. This tracking program could be used to record work hours, business expenses, and work breakdown. This multi-purpose time tracking program is developed by EDS Finland and named the Piski.

Piski is said to be ideal for businesses that need a browser-based tracking system that is easy to operate and navigate. An added feature of this system which makes it multi-purpose is its ability to combine travel expenses reporting with work hours tracking. This eliminates the necessity of keeping a separate record. What's more, the Piski can feed these data to other computers within the system, making the information accessible to the employers and the employees. The Piski is also advised for employers who don't want the hassle of installing the client software of ERP systems to employees' computer workstations solely for the purpose of keeping working hours. An added bonus is that the Piski can regularly produce updated reports of employees' project expenses and working hours, even in the form of individual employee time cards. The Piski is often touted as a time clock software and project management software in one.

What makes a Piski? For one, it is available in multilingual versions and can be further modified to suit the company's vocabulary or preferred language. Second, it has an easy integration system. The latest in .NET technology enables data to be sent and fed into the other systems. The added flexiblity of the program can adopt and add new interfaces for new users. The system can operate independently as a time clock software or wired to the enterprise's other systems like order booking, payroll, invoicing, and project management. As a result, data can be interchanged from the piski to the other systems and vice versa.

Aside from reporting and collecting expenses and work hours, the Piski can even be customized to modify several features. Classification of project tasks, currencies used for booking, expense codes, overtime codes, default work hours, and holiday calendars. The Piski truly eliminates the need for obsolete time clocks and employee time cards. Despite the speedy data exchange and its accessibility, employers need not worry about their employees seeing more than they should. The Piski is a secure system that allows several data levels to be viewed by corresponding people. An employee could only view in his interface his work hours, assignments, expenses, and specific projects assigned to him. Other projects not within his assignments are not accessible to him. Supervisory and managerial level positions are entitled overall views of project progress and their teams' progress with their specific tasks. The employer has access to all of these. The Piski does not sacrifice security and quality for fast data exchange. It is the answer to a modern business employee tracking problems.
