Promoting your website in blogs is an extremely effective way of getting traffic to your website. Many people have great visitor counts just from participating in blogs, and yet the majority of internet webmasters are still failing to use this method of traffic generation. When you participate on blogs, after each comment you make you are allowed to have a signature file which is a small box that appears at the end of every comment that you have power over. This is the key to gaining traffic through blogs because this resource box is usually allowed one or two links with a small description beside them. If your comments are useful, answer questions and are generally a positive influence on that blog then it is probable that other bloggers who participate on that blog will notice this and click on your website link to find out if you have any more to offer them. Just make sure that the blogs that you are commenting in are about the same subject matter as the website you are trying to promote so that you know the people you are advertising to will be interested in whatever your website has to offer. That way you know that if your sales letter is persuasive and well written that you are very likely to make a sale from these visitors. There are a few important things to bear in mind before you start on your blog marketing campaign. These are : - Make sure you pick good blogs to post in. It is very important that you choose blogs that have a decent number of visitors every month. Blog posting is a long and time consuming task and so it is essential that you concentrate your efforts on blogs which you are certain that are giving you something back in return. In this way, it is better to post on 5 forums with large amounts of traffic rather than 20 forums with minimal traffic each. You can tell how many visitors a forum gets by looking at the views that each thread has got, seeing how far up in the search engines it comes or looking at its Alexa traffic rankings. - Tracking which blogs are sending you traffic and which are not. By tracking the links in your resource box you can tell where the visitors to your site are coming from. This way you can concentrate on posting more frequently in the ones that are giving you good results, and scraping those which arent. This optimization process will make your blog marketing campaign efforts far more effective. - Save time by posting similar messages on different blogs. With the amount of blogs out there you can be sure that there will be similar questions and topics being posted on lots of blogs. If you do a Google Search on a topic you are confident to talk about and comment intelligently on and find there are 10 forums with outstanding threads talking about exactly the same thing, you could write a comment to one of these blogs and virtually copy and paste (make slight alterations) into all of the other 9 blogs you found. - Post on topics which have the most number of comments. These are the hot topics. On basically every blog there are a couple of topics which have at least 10 comments because that topic is about something hot or there is an argument going on between blog members. These are definitely the topics you need to comment in to get the maximum exposure. If you can give your opinion and back it up with sensible reasoning, you will gain the respect of those reading and they may look to your signature file to see what your website does. - Never post useless comments. In other words, if your comment does not teach readers anything or isnt a positive influence on that blog, dont post it. Not only will you be thought boring, you will also get no website views because members will think the bad quality of your posts represents the quality of your website. Remember, always re-read your post before you submit it. Most blogs allow you to preview a comment before you publish it. This is a feature you should take advantage of so that your blog is not only interesting and intelligent, but is also laid out in the way you want. |
