Administration Schools

Author: Michael Bustamante

Administration Schools offer programs for earning certificates and degrees in administration (or Business Administration) through courses that teach maintenance practices for effective internal operation of various kinds of businesses.

Administration schools teach basic skills, such as typing, filing, telephone courtesy, scheduling, maintaining records, data entry, correspondence, as well more complex responsibilities, such as computer hardware uses, computer software operations, payroll, research, auditing, project management, conducting meetings, and training staff.

Administration professionals become qualified to manage specific business functions from reception to human resources. An associate, bachelor, or master degree in administration prepares for applications of business principles and techniques to a variety of professional settings. Graduates of professional administration programs may choose to work for public or private institutions, or they may find opportunities to work non-profit organizations more appealing.

Associate, bachelor, and master degree programs, as well as certificates of specialization in specific areas of administration are possible. University and college degree programs are not always needed for entry-level positions in business, however, some positions require advanced degrees. Many employers prefer Business Administration (BA) degrees that allow some authority and responsibility. A Master in Business Administration (MBA) is more preferable in some situations. Doctorate degrees are also available, and often necessary to upper-level positions.
